CHALLENGE

Concept Nova is a software company that specialises in the development of ERP and HRM software. Their  were management team was not satisfied with their software development process (SDP) as it often resulted in long development times of their products and the delayed resolution of bugs or feature requests required by their customers.[/span3][span3]

INSIGHT

We approached this challenge by reviewing their current Software Development Process (SDP). We quickly realised that they were following a waterfall based model, used a lot of paper based reporting and performed manual labeling and backup of source code on their developers machine. Key skills and ideas were not being readily transferred across their development teams.[/span3][span6]

STRATEGY

We implemented an Agile based development process to optimize the delivery of their software solutions and backed this up with numerous platforms for software and document version control, document management and intranet platform. These tools helped improve collaboration, documentation and knowledge sharing across their teams.

We also implemented a time tracking solution so that employees could accurately record time spent on task for accurate delivery and progress metrics. Finally we setup a  training program for their engineers in a number of modules including Object Orientated engineering, UML, Source control and code management and other tools that we had implemented as part of the SDP.
